Layton's victory earns big payday Altoona Mirror

Mechanicsburg - Chad Layton simply refused to concede Thursday night at Williams Grove Speedway and scored an impressive victory in the World of Outlaws-sanctioned 25-lap sprint car feature.

It was his second victory of the season at Williams Grove and second career victory in World of Outlaws competition.

Layton earned $8,800 for his performance and pushed the Posse's winning streak to five over the World of Outlaws drivers.

Friday was well worth the wait. The racing program was twice delayed by rain and ended in the wee hours of Saturday morning at Williams Grove Speedway, but Fred Rahmer provided one of the most memorable finishes in the storied history of this famous racetrack.

The eight-time champion took the lead approaching the white flag in this 30-lap sprint car feature and went on to score the $12,000 victory.

It was Rahmer's 83rd career victory at Williams Grove, but this was the first time he had ever won from the 24th starting position, a feat that is even more impressive since this was a World of Outlaws-sanctioned event.
