I agree that ALL drivers should be retested when they reach a certain age, whatever that age is deemed to be if a law passes (and one should). It is true that some elderly do not have the capability to be on the road any longer. That being said, there are plenty of young, new teen drivers as well as "seasoned" drivers who are equally inexperienced and/or simply irresponsible in their driving. I wonder how many of us on this board would pass a driving test today? I am not defending this driver, please don't misunderstand. But trashing and treating the "elderly" like they were second class is not going to solve this problem. I was raised to respect ones elders and I have dealt with them and their "ways" all my life. It's absolutely time for the law to step in and fix this problem. Test them. If they fail, the license should be revoked. End of story. But I strongly suspect if this were a young or younger driver, it would not be getting they hype. By the way, I grew up in Medfield and attended that church regularly. There IS a crosswalk there. The grandmother did have the right to be there w/her grandchildren. However, that is also Rte. 27. A very busy road, particularly in the morning with limited sidewalks provided. It's not a road to be walking any time of the day.
