JUST watching was exhausting, but rivetting. The worm kept wriggling, tens of thousands of tweets kept pouring, the Facebook feed kept flowing, the instant rebuttal emails kept coming, the messageboards kept talking, the twitter sentiment tracker kept scrolling, the polls kept counting.
Fortunately, the wordcloud failed to form – perhaps Icelandic ash even affected this technological attempt to capture the most important words.
Oh, and the leaders kept talking.
Much of the online and instant reaction to them was contradictory. A tweet from YouGov immediately at the conclusion of the debate read: “Big win for Clegg in first post debate poll.” Within seconds it was followed by a breaking Sky poll: “Cameron 53 Clegg 28 Brown 19”.
