Mr L on Tahiti beach - Pampalone, Saint Tropez

Tahiti beach epitomizes everyone’s idea of St Tropez.
Firstly it is situated on the beautiful Pampalone beach, where most of the daytime activity is around St Tropez.
The day we visited was very hot but we were put on a table surrounded by a fine mist of water from overhead sprays, which cooled everything down without anybody getting wet!
Looking at the beach it was covered in Orange umbrellas and deck chairs and as I looked at the sea it was literally teaming with multi million pound yachts. The restaurant was running a boat shuttle service for the clients to come for lunch.
As you can imagine the restaurant was full of an eclectic mix of people and to be honest it was difficult to see which ones were from the boats as nobody was really wearing any special clothes! That was until I noticed a few stunning girls walking around in not a lot!

I soon realised that these were 6 foot models showing off the designer wares from the attached boutique.
The prices were not extortionate and the food was good with a good selection of sashimi, sushi, fish, pasta and meat.
We wiled away the afternoon by listening to the live group, watching the models, much to the displeasure of our wives, and chatting whilst enjoying the local wines.
All in all a great lunch which finished around 3.30 pm!.
I would recommend this restaurant in all its aspects but especially for people watching.

Rebecca smiling

Three reasons Rebecca is smiling:

1/Her elder brother lewis is coming down from Paris tonight for a two week holiday.
2/ Her younger brother Andrew is back from the European Junoir basketball championships in Hungry on Tuesday morning.
3/ Yesterday she played in her first golf competiton in 3 years, the Callaway cup and won it with a 5 over par 77!

The yellow canary

On the range today we had a visitor, a little yellow bird, a type of canary that must have escaped from a villa.

It followed Lady around for a good 10 minutes and Lady didn’t seem to mind.

It landed on Toms head but Tom did mind!

Constence managed to get it off still attached to the cap. I do hope it finds its way home.

Rebecca Wallace hitting with the driver

Our daughter Rebecca has shown some interest in taking up golf again so last night I took her up to the range to hit some balls. I was amazed at how good her swing looked and how well she hit the ball, however I must be carfull not to push her too hard but it would be a shame to waste such talent.

NB: She was hitting the driver about 250 yards!!

Mr L on the The Ceylan restaurant, Cavalaire

If there is one thing we Brits miss in the St Tropez area it is a good Indian Restaurant!
We have tried several and they were disgusting with dried meat and rice but no sauces.
Imagine our delight when we discovered a Ceylanese restaurant in Cavalaire.
This is a simple restaurant with a simple menu. For starters my wife had chicken Tandori and I had onion bargee with samosas. Both delicious.
For the main course my wife had Lamb Korma and I had Prawn Curry. I was amazed by the curry as I expected some pea green broth type of source smelling of curry. In fact what I got was a delicious reddish sauce full of spices. A delight!
We shared one Nan with garlic (very strong) and a delicious Nan with cheese.
All in all a delicious inexpensive meal in a restaurant with a beautiful view of the bay in this town which is very family holiday oriented.
Please try. Website

Practice like a pro

Constance has been struggling with her short putts and has really lost confidence in her technique. Once I had explained what corrections she needed to make I gave her a drill to practice which requires big time concentration. It consists of holing 10 putts in a row from 2 feet, 3 feet and 4 feet, missing 1 putt means she had to start the whole process over again. After 60minutes or so of practice she couldn’t miss and all being well we should see the results in the up and coming competition on Saturday.
